Marbella is a large city located on the western part of the Costa del Sol some 50km or so from Malaga city. It can be reached either via the N340 coastal route or the autovia AP7. The autovia is the quickest way to reach Marbella as it has a higher speed limit than the N340, however, if this is a regular trip, the cost can add up considerably, in addition to this, prices may vary according to the time of the year too.
The city of Marbella has been for many decades a favourite destination for the rich and famous, many celebrities have been spotted holidaying and doing a spot of shopping in Marbella and especially in the adjacent location of Puerto Banus.
There are some significant landmarks in Marbella such as Ricardo Soriano Street which cuts right across the city and offers a wide variety of shops to cater for all tastes, budgets and requirements.
Over the past five or six decades, many foreigners have bought or built property in Marbella, this also includes many celebrities who shall remain nameless. Over the years, numerous luxury villas were constructed in Marbella, especially in Sierra Blanca which is on the periphery of Marbella itself and within relatively easy access to the city centre. There are numerous urbanisations comprising luxury apartments in Marbella too, these were built with a particular type of client in mind, these properties have all the latest technology throughout as well as the most detailed and luxurious finishes.
Even though many foreigners have moved to Marbella and made it their home from home, Marbella has numerous neighbourhoods that remain very traditionally Spanish, almost as if the past few decades and the influx of foreigners have bypassed them. There are numerous parks where during the warm spring and summer evenings, people come out to enjoy the cooler sea breeze and make it into a social event and a chance to meet up with friends until the early hours of the morning.
Currently, there is a new port being built which will catapult Marbella once more into the forefront of destinations for the mega rich and famous. The port in Marbella will have 1,220 moorings, underground parking for 450 vehicles, commercial areas, and a ฝากขายที่ดิน 5 star hotel among other luxury attractions. The rumour is that the cost of this new port which in reality is an extension to the old port is in the region of €400 million; however, once completed, the new port is said to rival Monaco.
In recent years, Marbella has changed from being a destination where only the wealthy could afford it, property prices in Marbella are affordable to many more buyers than it has ever been before.
