Glendowie isn't what you'd call a destination for the shopper. Several small blocks of shops service the local community with takeways and bakries, the odd eatery and cafe, and the occasional dairy.

There are only a handful of eateries, and cafes in Glendowie and these essentially service the locals, and are generally located in the same block as the shops mentioned above.

Transport:

The only means of public transport servicing Glendowie is the bus, and taxi. The drive from Glendowie to the CBD is usually along Tamaki Drive and can take 20 - 25 minutes during off-peak times. The nearest train service runs from the nearby suburb of Glen Innes which is approximately 5 mins drive from Glendowie and runs to destinations both North and South.

Glendowie happens to be one of those rare central Auckland suburbs that hasn't been significantly affected with the saturation of infill housing that took place between the 1980's and 2000's in many parts of Auckland, and still boasts many properties with decent sized sections, reminiscent of 'old New Zealand'. Buying in Glendowie is sure to provide a secure bluechip investment location, one that improves in price steadily and consistently over the years rather than in radical price surges like other trendy suburbs.
