If you are looking to buy a cottage, here are some tips for you to follow. First and foremost a cottage is a purchase that will likely be in your family for many years to come. It's important that you choose the right cottage to fit your lifestyle.
Are you looking to purchase a cottage for frequent use such as weekends and summer vacations? Will you be using the cottage over the winter months? Winters are a wonderful time, you'll need to identify whether the cottage is insulated, does it have heating and what type. I find that wood heating is the most cost effective. A good wood stove will help to heat an entire cottage. Fireplaces are nice, but not the most efficient when it comes to heating source. If the cottage you want to purchase does not have a wood stove or fireplace, its easy to install yourself or have someone experienced install it for you. If the cottage is on pillars, ensure that it can be easily enclosed in the winter months, that will prevent the winds from blowing through and keeping the floors cold.
Will you require close access to medical facilities such as hospitals? Many family members bring along their elderly relatives, its good to know where the hospitals in the area will be. There have been some instances over the years where my children have needed stitches, being close enough to a medical facility is a plus. Will you want to have internet access at the cottage? There has been a substantial investment made to provide high speed internet in many cottage areas, these are wonderful advantages to having if you have the ability to work from home, working from the cottage allows us spend quality time with the family and enjoy the view.
Commute time to the cottage is also an important factor, especially if you want to enjoy it many times over the course of the year. There are still some great finds that can be found close to large cities. Proximity to your neighbors is also an important factor. We've had situations where neighbors have a lot of people up over the weekend and the noise can get quite loud. We are lucky enough that they are far enough away, if they were right next door, it would definitely be a hassle. A cottage is a place to get away and have some privacy and quiet time, so you'll want to ensure you have enough space between yourself and your neighbors.
Having access to the lake is an important factor. If you have a cottage in mind that has rough terrain on the waterfront, you'll want to consider small children and the elderly. You want to enjoy your time, no continually worry that someone will get hurt. Cottages that are across the คอนโด ราคาถูก street from the lake but have lake access can be a cheaper alternative. We opted out for this, we have what is called deaded access to a lot on the lake, there are 6 cottagers who share the lot, we have our dock in the water and have found this a wonderful alternative, it's a short walk to the cottage and allows us to have more land and we don't have the hassle of hearing the boat traffic over the summer months.
