Great Beach Bach Ideas

One the wonderful things about living in New Zealand is it's proximity to the beach, with the vast majority of the population living within an hour of the coast, and despite this accessibility being able to spend time at the beach is not taken for granted. Particularly during the summer holiday season you will find a great exodus from the towns and cities to the coast where people choose to spend their break enjoying all that the beachside has to offer, and it's this affinity that leads many of us build a holiday home where we can head to for a break.

If you have chosen to build a bach as a holiday location here are some great ideas to incorporate:

Eco-Friendly and Self Sufficient Options

Generally you are not using your bach every weekend, and often it's only during the hot summer months so incorporating solar panels and a water tank will help keep the running costs down. Additionally depending on the location of the property tank water may be your only option so if you have already factored this into your design this will not become an issue.

Low Maintenance

Keep your building materials as low maintenance as possible to avoid having to spend your holidays doing work on the house. Your architect will be able to give you some great advice about which materials will suit the beachside location and the style of the building. The materials used on the inside will also have a major impact on the property and it's recommended to use hard surfacing in the majority, if not all, of the building especially at the beachside location.

บ้านมือสอง กรุงเทพ Facilities

If the property is going to be rented out or used by friends and family then having separate zones that offer some privacy is a great option. Having a large communal kitchen with plenty of space to prepare meals is a great idea, as is having an ensuite bathroom for each of the bedrooms. This gives everyone privacy and helps with those mornings when everyone is trying to get showered. The addition of an outdoor shower is essential in a bach located by the beach, you won't regret it.

Security

Although it's something we don't like to think about keeping your bach safe and secure is essential to avoid opportunists from taking advantage of the sometimes infrequent occupancy. There are many great options available including sliding or canopied walls that when closed can completely seal the building when not in use. Choosing a keypad entry will also allow you to change the code on a regular basis and avoid the need for keys. This is a great option if you are renting the property out.
