The Right Home In The Right Place

Do you want to build a new custom home on a piece of bare Real Estate? You may want to custom design the floor plan to accommodate your family and lifestyle.

Here are a few questions that you may want to consider to start on your road to building the home of your dreams:

1. What is my budget? This is a very important question because it will give you some boundaries on the type of home you desire to design and build. This will also regulate your spending limit in a good way.

2. What size home do you want? Some singles or couples only need or want a simple 1500 square foot home with 2 or 3 bedrooms and 1 or 2 baths. Some larger families want a 2500 square foot home that can accommodate at least 4 bedrooms and have at least 3 bathrooms. What exactly are you looking to build and how much room do you need?

3. What type of home do I want built? There are many options to choose from. You can go from a simple Ranch style home with some accents, a Two-Story home with some extras, a custom A-Frame or Cape Cod, a Tudor style home or any design you can find. Do you want everything on one level or will two or three levels be an option?

4. What type of home foundation do I want this home on? Your piece of property will also help in determining the answer to these questions. If your land is somewhat flat, you can possibly install a slab or crawlspace foundation. If your land is not flat, you will probably need a basement installed. Basements are popular because you have extra space for a garage and/or storage. This also leaves an option of finishing off the basement into a living area in the future. Most of the time clients choose to create a daylight basement where the exposed part of the basement is wood framed and sided like the rest of the home. This eliminates any block work that is not getting any dirt against it and makes the basement easier and more appealing to finish off in the future.

5. What type of siding do I want on this home? You can go with anything from a natural wood siding such as pine, cedar or even log siding, to a cement hardi-board siding, to vinyl, to brick, and many others.

6. Do I want any decks or คอนโด porches installed on the home? If there is a view from the lot or if you want a place to relax comfortably outside, a deck or porch is a perfect option.

7. How many windows and doors do I want on this home? You may want more windows on a certain side of the home depending on how your building lot is situated. Many people put extra windows on the side where the sun is for the majority of the day or where the view is seen the best.

8. What type of finish do you want on the interior of the home? Drywall is most common; although some people want a rustic all wood interior finish. Of course the all wood is much more expensive so keep this in mind when you are making these choices.

9. What type of flooring do you want in your new home? You can choose to have hardwood and ceramic tile throughout your home or you can choose to have carpet and vinyl. There are many types of flooring choices on the market today.

These are some questions that will help you choose or design your new home. You must also look at the market in your desired area. You would not want to build a 5000 square foot mansion in a neighborhood where there are mostly 2000 square foot homes. You would not want to put an 3000 square foot extravagant home will all tile floors in an area where there are simple 1000 square foot ranch style homes with carpet and vinyl for flooring. It is very important to put the right type of home in the right place and finding a neighborhood where your home choice would nicely fit in.
