Sugarmill Woods is located in the Southwest corner of Citrus County in Homosassa Florida, three miles off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. This community is the only "greenbelt" community you will find in Florida. A greenbelt is a natural common area which runs behind every home site, unless you are on a golf course, of which there are two. You will find more on these later in this article. The greenbelt areas will never be built on. This leaves you much privacy in the rear of your home. It also gives you a very scenic view.
Sugarmill Woods encompasses five thousand acres. Within these five thousand acres are the villages of Cypress, Oak and Southern Woods. Of the over 8,000 home sites, approximately 55% are built on. There is plenty room for growth.
Non-Golf course lots range from a minimum of 12,000 square feet (100 X 120), plus a fifteen-foot county right-of-way at the street, up to 20,000 square feet. As stated previously, all back up to the 'Greenbelt" and many are located on cul-de-sacs. If you are located on a cul-de-sac lot, you will have a natural area in the front as well. Cul-de-sac, straight-away and boulevard lots offer the home owner numerous lifestyle choices.
Golf course lots range in size from approximately one-quarter to one-half acre and vary in width, depth and exact square footage, between 11,000 and 30,000 square feet. Most parcels are over one hundred forty-five feet deep, offering various choices of privacy barriers.
There are two golf courses located within the community. Sugarmill Woods Country Club, designed by Ron Garl, Florida's foremost golf course architect, is a 27-hole private golf course. It has a club house and a restaurant.
Southern Woods Golf Club, designed by U.S. Open Champion, Hale Irwin, is a private course which was completed in 1992. It has 18 holes, a club house and a restaurant.
The greenbelt concept assures that บ้านมือสอง over 3,300 acres, more than 30% of the total community, have been preserved in their natural state. You will find Bobcat, Great Horned Owls, Red-Bellied Woodpeckers, and an abundance of other wildlife. Sugarmill Woods has gently rolling hills and an abundance of trees, unlike most of the State of Florida. This area is virtually immune to storm flooding.
Sugarmill Woods offers a lot of activities. It has some of the finest salt and freshwater sport fishing in Florida within 10 miles. There are seven rivers around for kayaking, boating, canoeing and tubing. If you want to get off the water, try hiking, biking, tennis and golf.
For Florida living, it cannot be beat. It is a great place to live and play.
