Detached Houses - The First Choice

Purchasing a home is a big decision that involves exploring various options such as the type of ownership, the kind of property and last but not least, the budget. For the first time or second time home buyer there are a number of housing options available:

• Semi detached houses or semis • Detached houses • Apartment complexes • Terraced homes • Bungalows

The home buyer can consider an outright purchase or opt for co-ownership housing, a scheme offered by the government for those tied down by budget constraints. Most people find detached houses an attractive proposition as they are considered superior compared with the other types of houses. They also offer more privacy. These can either be a ready-to-occupy turnkey house or one built to the owner's specifications.

Types of detached houses:

A detached house is a standalone residence with no shared walls and which is not attached to a neighboring property, unlike a semi which shares one common wall with a neighbor or the terraced home that shares walls on both sides. The early homes built in this style had a drive on one side. These houses were separated by a wall or a fence from their neighbors.

The construction can be of a variety of materials like brick, wood and stucco or even a combination of these. In its simplest form these dwellings have two or three bedrooms, a living and dining room, a kitchen, a fully equipped bathroom, a garage and a basement.

Detached houses can accommodate one or more families. The standard type has three to four bedrooms, ทาวน์โฮมมือสอง a living and dining room, a den or study, a kitchen, two large bathrooms, a fireplace, a large garage and a basement, usually with an attached bathroom. In contrast, the executive design is a two-story model with four bedrooms, a living and dining room, a den, a kitchen, two bathrooms, fireplace, a two-car garage and basement with attached bathroom. The senior style home can be a single or two-story bungalow with a loft, four or five bedrooms, separate living and dining rooms, a library, a kitchen, three bathrooms, fireplace, two or three car garage, and a basement with an attached bathroom.

Bungalows and cottages:

Detached homes can be also be single or two story bungalows and cottages.

The bungalow style homes come with a lower price tag and have a low roof and a porch around them. Cottages are similar to bungalows, but are pricier and structurally different. They usually have a thatched roof, sturdy walls, pillars for support and low ceilings, and mostly tend to be located in the suburban or rural areas. They are invariably one and a half story structures.

People in the cities generally opt for flats or terrace homes, a choice that is made based on the proximity to their place of work. Semi detached properties are very popular, but when it comes to investing in a property in which they hope to enjoy their retirement, detached properties are the first choice. This involves a lot of planning, not the least of which is identifying the right property through a reliable developer and financing options since it is a lifetime investment.
