How to Find Your Perfect Neighborhood

Along a busy or quiet street

In an isolated area

Near to a flood plane

Near an airport

Near railroad tracks

Near industrial areas

Near potential new housing development

What are the neighbors and community like?

Are the neighbors friendly?

What is the average age of the residents Is the community?

Child friendly?

Do they welcome pets?

Do they welcome RV's?

Are there neighborhood events?

What is the crime rate?

What are the property values and taxes like

Other tips:

Go back during different times of the day and night to the neighborhood.

Talk to the residents and ask if they like living in the community, etc.

If you don't feel comfortable at night in the neighborhood then reconsider buying.

To find out what the property tax rate is in an area, call the tax assessor's office (listed in the phone book) or ask your real estate agent.

To find out insurance rates for homeowners and car insurance, call your insurance agent.

Meet with the members of your family to make a list of neighborhood qualities that are important to all of the different people who live in your household.

Check to see if there are any property restrictions within the community. You don't want surprises after you have moved in!

You may love your new home but if you needed to sell it would others? Make sure it has good curb side appeal and has excellent resale value.

If possible take your time choosing your home and neighborhood. Buying a home is a huge life changing event and you want to make sure you are choosing the right one and the right neighborhood.
