Give ample time to carefully search for the right people to work with to ensure that the job of building your home is done as you envision it.
When meeting with probable contractors, remember to request a copy of his or her license and proof of liability insurance. This insurance will cover any property damage or injury claims. Also, try to find out how long the contractor has been in the business. You can also visit some of the projects that he/she has done. This can tell you if he/she is right for your home building project.
Be sure that when you hire home building contractors, you choose the one who is currently licensed as required by the laws within your city/state. You will be required to provide the contractor's name and license number. Most of the states have already had the licensing board check the contractor's background and is satisfied that he/she has the necessary training and experience. Compare multiple bids. Get at least three estimates before hiring anyone to do the job of building your home.
