As the name suggests, this is the initial stage in the construction process. It incorporates all those works that make way for a smooth and wholesome construction. These works are themselves not part of the construction and will only be there as long as the construction is in progress, after which they are replaced by permanent works and facilities. The following are some of the most important preliminary works necessary in almost all construction works:
· Security - This is necessary to safeguard the site and all materials, tools or plant that may be brought on site for the construction. It also offers protection for outsiders against the many potential dangers of construction sites for example open pits, falling rubble and excessive dust. This item also offers the advantage of site demarcation. The most recognized way of offering this is the use of hoarding, a closed fence made of iron sheets or close boarding. A guarded gate is usually provided to complete the picture, along with night lighting and dust screening in some cases.
· Water - This is one very important item to provide in any construction site, both for use in the works as well as for use by people working on the site. Since most sites are virgin (meaning never been constructed upon) they lack facilities like water and as such there is need to apply for water provision to the site, either from the local authority or on individual arrangement.
· Electricity - Similar to water.
· Access - As earlier mentioned, virgin sites need to be provided with services, one of which is access. This is provided in the form of a road, though not permanent. Existing sites may also need a different access to avoid obstruction or nuisance.
· Site clearing - this is done to make the site fit for construction as well as accommodative of all the necessary supportive facilities. This will range from clearing vegetation including grubbing roots in case of a virgin site or demolitions and diversion of infrastructural services in case of pre-built sites.
· Hutchments - This refers to structures put ทาวน์เฮ้าส์มือสอง ราคาถูก up on site for the use by construction workers and for the storage and working of construction materials, tools and plant. They include stores, workshops and washrooms.
· Establishing site levels - Site levels are important and form a starting point before any construction process. Site levels determine building levels, mostly in a bid to make the design of facilities like drainage to work well.
· Setting out - this is also referred to as siting, and it involves determining positions of the building under construction in relation to the site.
